I want you to experience MORE Great Days….here’s how.

Last week, I got on the phone with one of my clients and she was telling me how everything was going SO well. She was feeling great, things were flowing, she wasn’t emotionally eating,… things just felt GOOD.

She started to breeze over the “goodness” of how she was feeling, but I slowed her down.

I wanted to spend waaayyy more time on this. I knew I needed to dig in.

I said, “as important as it is for us to look at your challenges, it’s JUST AS important that we anchor into what IS working for you during the times that you feel great.”

You see, when we have good days, good weeks, good phases… these moments provide such valuable information for us to gain about ourselves.

We tend to usually self-analyze when things AREN’T feeling good, but it’s just as important that we take a look at our easy, feel-good moments.

These “great days” tell us what turns us on, what makes us thrive, what works really well for our unique, ever-evolving personalities.

So… I want you to think about a day recently during which you felt REALLY GOOD.

You felt happy.
Inspired.
Balanced.
Things just flowed and felt easy.

Now, think back to that day.

What were you specifically doing that felt good?
Who were you spending time with?
What was the flow of your day like?
What kinds of foods were you eating?
What were you wearing and how did you FEEL in your clothes?

How did you FEEL that day? Aim to name 5 feelings you felt on that day (ie. connected, calm, loved, etc.)

My client realized that during those couple of weeks, because her son was visiting, she felt so connected, and was having so much fun because of the activities they were doing together. She also realized that she had just gone food shopping and had a full fridge of food she loved – she felt abundant and like she had freedom to enjoy anything she wanted when she wanted it.

We drilled into the feelings that she was feeling that ultimately left her feeling satisfied.

She didn’t find herself emotionally eating at all during that time because she was satisfied and filled up from an emotional perspective.

By understanding WHY she wasn’t emotionally eating, she can then work to bring MORE of those same feelings into her life going forward.

In the interest of self-knowledge, I want you to be able to say what FEELINGS make you feel the most satisfied and help you feel your best.

Connected? Free? Organized? Inspired? Light? Supported? Relaxed?

Then… what experiences / people / structures / flow to your day / outfits / foods / activities / way of living help you feel that?

That’s what to aim for.

I will give you a few examples from my own life to help paint a clearer picture for you…

One of the feelings that I know I need to feel in order to be at my best is CONNECTED. If I go a whole day without speaking to a close friend of mine or someone in my family, I feel disconnected. So, I have learned that as busy as I am, I almost always create time to connect to someone I love during the day. It makes me feel loved, supported, and, well… connected.

Another feeling I like to feel is FREE. I’ve gotten to know myself and I know that if I feel like I have too many obligations, and not enough “flow” time, I get agitated and overwhelmed. Because of this, I have structured my week in a way that all of my appointments / client meetings are on two – three days of the week, and the other days I get to have more flow. On Wednesdays, in particular, I don’t schedule a SINGLE meeting. Ever. It’s time for me to write. I need that sense of freedom in my week in order to feel at ease.

Self-knowledge is such a huge part of self-care. If we don’t know ourselves, it’s hard to know how to take care of ourselves.

One of the best ways to know yourself is to pay attention to what feels good… and why.

Get Curious! :)

In the comments below, I’d love to hear from you:

If you think back to a recent “great day”, what was so great about it? How did you FEEL and what made you feel that way?

Can’t wait to hear from you!

Love,
Jamie
