How To Stop Feeling “Behind” In Life

In the past year or so, I’ve experienced the feeling of being “behind” in life. Ryan and I got married a few years later than most of my close friends, and by now, they’ve all had one or two kids.

As we think about starting a family, I noticed that I felt so much anxiety – both in mind and in my body – about being “behind”.

We need to catch up.
We’re getting old.
Life is getting away from me.
We need to have kids, like, now or else I’ll keep getting farther and farther from where my friends are.

You know, all those fun thoughts.

These thoughts were creating so much stress, anxiety and fear within me, instead of allowing me to R E L A X into the beautiful process of how my own life was unfolding.

The pressure was weighing me down. Emotionally, mentally, and physically.

I knew I needed to find another way to approach this.

Let’s jump to my client, who experienced her own sense of feeling “behind” lately, too.

About a year into her relationship, she’d been feeling a lot of fear about knowing if it was the right relationship, if he was fully committed and knowing that it WAS going to work out… because she was scared that if they broke up, she’d have to start all over and she’d fall “behind” not only her friends but also her personal timeline in her head about how her life should unfold.

Can you relate? Having that timeline in your mind that you should do X by this age and Y by this age?

This fear of falling behind was adding so much stress to the relationship needing to work out, rather than just allowing her to enjoy it and experience it unfolding naturally.

This fear of falling behind or the feeling of being behind is one way that we get in our own way.

Of feeling more ease.
Of feeling more acceptance and love for the moment.
Of feeling more joy.
Of relaxing.

I created a short video for you explaining the tools I used (and helped my client use) to stop feeling “behind” in life.

I specifically go into how this strategy has helped me in the “must have babies NOW” example and my client’s example, too. I’d love for you to give it a watch if this topic resonates with you.

You can watch the video right here.

And please share it with anyone who you think needs to hear it, too.

Loving you from Florida, and remember… you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Lots of love,
Jamie
